Metacognition
At St Teresa’s we want our children to be aware of, make good use of, and reflect on their own learning and thinking processes.
When a learner understands the thinking processes that help them to learn, they can plan for their own learning, and then evaluate how effectively they are learning.
The stronger their metacognitive awareness, the greater their level of ownership of their own learning. As a result, their dependence on others to learn is reduced.
