Key Stage 1
The children begin Key Stage 1 of the National Curriculum. They will have daily Literacy and Mathematics lessons as well as a variety of other subjects, including, Computing, Religious Education (R.E.), Music, Personal, Social and Health Education (P.S.H.E.) and Physical Education (P.E.). The children follow a book-banding system and each child has their own reading record book which records their progress.
Some subjects are taught as a topic and these are: Science, History, Geography, Art and Design and Technology (DT). In Year 1 we aim to work closely with parents in order to help the children make good progress in their basic literacy and maths skills. We consider parental support to be essential.
